Opening on May 16 at MAD is Stephan Zimmerli's installation entitled Studiolo dell'esilio (Exile Studiolo), winner of the call for artist residencies 2024, and developed during his residency at MAD Murate Art District.
The exhibition project is dedicated to the collective memory of migrants, exiles and travelers through the memories that some world citizens who arrived in Florence due to migration, exile, voluntary and involuntary relocation wanted to share with the artist.
These tales materialized in the artist's drawings, offering visitors a collection of memories brought together within an ephemeral architecture: a wooden setting, similar to that of a Renaissance studiolo, in which ornaments and decorations represent the mental space made up of words and memories, translated into images by the artist himself.
