The Festival au Désert is a Festival, born in 2010, hosting world music artists particularly from the Sahel, North Africa, the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
For its 15th edition, the Festival au Désert Firenze has invited some of the most interesting musicians and groups on the international scene, favouring both the presence of great masters and young but established musicians.
In collaboration with Florence Dance Festival, two ancient cultures – the Indian and the Malian – on stage with two great masters of percussion: Trilok Gurtu and Aly Keita.
In the heart of the Cascine Park, in the Prato della Tinaia, on Wednesday 24 July, the Moroccan singer and musician Asmaa Hamzaoui, with her group Bnat Timbouktou, who will give a female version of the ancient Gnawa tradition.
To close the festival, again at the Parco delle Cascine, the Imarhan, a group of Algerian musicians formed in Tamanrasset, influenced by desert-rock groups as much as traditional Tuareg music.
