On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November 2024, Castelfiorentino will host the historical re-enactment of the Peace stipulated in Castelfiorentino in 1260, between Ghibelline Siena and Guelph Florence, at the conclusion of the bloody battle of Montaperti. Also on the programme: arts and crafts market, medieval games and historical processions.
And it is precisely on the value of this anniversary, the Peace that with the power of its universal message addresses all peoples to reconcile conflicts of any nature, that in Castelfiorentino the ‘historical re-enactment of Peace after Montaperti’ takes place.
The historic centre of this village in the Florentine Valdelsa is immersed in the mediaeval atmosphere of the period, through a sequence of unmissable events. Two days to celebrate and remember the peace agreement between Siena and Florence after the historic clash at Montaperti.
On Saturday 23 November 2024, the ‘Evening of Peace’ will be celebrated, while on Sunday 24 November it will be the turn of the ‘Peace Procession’. In addition, the ‘Romanello Cantini’ award will be presented, as well as the awards to civil protection associations.
