Villa Bardini, on top of the beautiful garden overlooking Florence, is hosting from Sept. 26 to Jan. 19 the exhibition "Oltrecittà (BeyondCity). Utopias and Realities. From Le Corbusier to De Chirico."
An interesting exhibition that deals with the theme of the reading of urban spaces by great artists of the 20th and 11th centuries, in various disciplines: from painting and sculpture to photography, from architecture to music. In the 12 sections, accompanied by as many illustrious literary quotations (Calvino, Buzzati, Hemingway), more than 100 works by internationally renowned artists are exhibited, including the names of Boccioni, De Chirico, Burri, Le Corbusier, Sol LeWitt, Pistoletto, and Gerhard Richter (whose work "Oil on color photograph" created in Florence in 2020, the exhibition's poster-image). The sound section is also suggestive, with music evoking urban atmospheres signed by big names including Luciano Berio and John Cage.
The exhibition is also meant to be an invitation to make us reflect on the relationship between man and city, between inhabitants and living spaces, between past, present and future.
