The complex of San Salvi was established in place of the old psychiatric hospital of San Bonifazio in via San Gallo. The same architect of the Tepidarium in via Bolognese, Giacomo Roster, was in charge of the project, strongly desired by psychiatrist Tamburini. In 1978, in order to comply with the Basaglia law, the mental hospital was closed. The wards of the former psychiatric hospital are surrounded by the greenery of a century-old park and are currently hosting a school and the headquarters, besides the offices of the Health Authority.
