Outdoor swimming pools in Florence

Sport & FreeTime

What better way to avoid summer’s heat than to dive in a fresh outdoor swimming pool? Here’s a list of them.

Let’s start from the city center: in the Cascine park there’s a beautiful pool, immersed in nature, called Piscina delle Pavoniere (after the two neoclassical round buildings originally created to host the peacocks or pavoni in Italian that roamed around the garden in the past). In the evening the restaurant opens, offering the possibility of enjoying a drink or dinner poolside.

Not far from the city center we find 3 more swimming pools: Piscina di Bellariva, located in a green area full of trees along Lungarno Aldo Moro, that can be easily reached by bike, with pools for adults and for children and a private restaurant.
Piscina Costoli, in piazza Berlinguer (Campo di Marte sport district), which has a 50 meters pool, one with diving boards, and a third one for children.
And moving south, in via Generale Dalla Chiesa, we find Hu Camping in Town, along the riverbank of Arno River, equipped with a pool and a restaurant, both open also to people not staying at the camping.

In the northern part of the city find Il Poggetto,  enclosed by a garden, in a multi-functional area calledFlog, where you can find tennis fields, a pizzeria, n open-air cinema, as well as a swimming pool.

Le Pavoniere

In the eastern area of Cascine Park, near piazza Vittorio Veneto, there is the Pavoniere swimming pool. It takes its name from the aviaries (“pavoniere”) shaped like neoclassical temples that can still be admired here.

The municipality swimming pool, open during summer, also constitutes a rental point for bicycles and roller skates.
