There is still a medieval air about this site where, located within a short distance of each other, are the small parish church of San Leolino in Montanis and the battered but still imposing ruins of the castle that once belonged to the Guidi counts.
The parish church stands on the site where, according to tradition, Saint Leolino (or Leonino) was martyred in the 4th century A.D. It is a simple but elegant building with a single nave and three apses, whose external characteristics are shared with other churches in the Apennine areas.
