An itinerary through the sacred images we encounter while walking through the town of Fiesole and its surroundings, on street corners, walled outside the houses, signposts at crossings of country roads; the most famous and impressive is frescoed by Ridolfo del Ghirlandaio, son of Domenico, the others are small in size, made of terracotta, also glazed, or sandstone, extracted from local quarries, but they all have in common a close connection with popular devotion and the history of the places and people who lived there.
The Municipality of Fiesole has surveyed the tabernacles in the area, analysing them and assessing their state of preservation, to create an interactive map that can also be used by visitors attracted by local history and folklore.
