The son of Benvenuto, Riccardo Bacarelli runs Antichità Bacarelli, which was founded by his grandfather Rizieri in 1923. For 96 years, the shop has been present in the centre of Florence, dealing in Italian antiques with professionalism and passion. In 1990, at the age of 23, Riccardo began working with his father, taking over the management of the business in 1996. On the strength of three generations of family experience in the trade, Riccardo has assimilated the know-how and experience to consolidate the standing of the gallery, which specialises in antique paintings, sculptures and artistic objects, paying particular attention to Italian art between the Renaissance and Neoclassicism. In addition, Bacarelli continues to participate in the Florence International Antiques Fair. He has further begun to focus on establishing his business’s position on an international level: since 2011, Riccardo has had a continuous presence in London, organising exhibitions of artworks and participating in important antiques fairs, such as London Art Week and Masterpiece. Bacarelli is vice-president of the executive board of the Italian Antiquarians Association (AAI) and member of the executive board of the Florence International Antiques Fair. In 2016, the Gallery moved its premises, while remaining on Via dei Fossi, the point of reference of Florence’s antiques market in the city’s historic centre. It now occupies a space in the building that was once the location of the Manifattura Arte della Seta Lisio, the well-known manufactory that at the beginning of 20th century faithfully reproduced the milieu of a mediaeval workshop. Today Antichità Bacarelli blends perfectly into the ambience of the famous street, characterised by the presence of shops dealing in antique art.
