In the woods of the Mugello area: Casetta di Tiara and Casa d'Erci

An excursion by bike with start and return to the Colla di Casaglia pass, continuing towards Palazzuolo sul Senio until you reach the Sambuca pass.

On the left side of the pass there is a dirt road that runs along the whole ridge that divides the Senio valley from the Santerno one. Following the white and red signs of 701, of the G.E.A. and of the SO.F.T. main ring you reach, after continuous ups and downs, the location called Poggio Roncaccio. Over a narrow pass you take a small road to the left made with slabs of sandstone rock that leads to the “Casa dell’Otro”.

Here begins a steep descent up to the small hamlet of Casetta di Tiara. You take the downhill paved road that brings to the Rio Veccione. Once you enter the dirt road, after the bridge at the next crossroads you turn right towards the beautiful Valle dell’Inferno. Due to its particular structure, with slabs of sandstone rock, you will often have to get off the bike.

Once you get to the paved road, on the left you find the Badia di Moscheta where you can enjoy a meal. You leave again on the paved road in the direction of Osteto, then you take a dirt road on the left and begin a steep climb (SO.F.T. 15) that leads to Acquabona on forest road 00 that connects the Colla pass to the Giogo one.

You continue to the left for about 500 m until you find on the right a detour that leads (36 - SO.F.T. 14) to the narrow pass of Mansalto. You go down to the right until you reach the lodge of Frassineta. Restarting the difficult descent you soon get near the Museo di Casa d’Erci and then to Grezzano.
On a paved road you first reach Borgo San Lorenzo and then, after taking the Faentina road, Ronta and the Colla pass.
