The Leccio di Faltognano holm oak, located in the middle of a garden in front of the Santa Maria Church, is part of the “monumental trees” of the Tuscan Region and of Italy.
With 15 metres of height and a trunk of 5 metres in circumference, it has dominated the whole valley below for over two centuries (but it is said that it was already there in the 18th century).
From the garden where it lies you can enjoy a wonderful view that stretches from the Apennines on one side to the Arno valley on the other and to the Pisan hills. On a clear day you can catch a glimpse of the Leghorn harbour and the island of Gorgona.
