Podestà tabernacle

In the old town of Lastra a Signa, near the Palazzo del Podestà stands the tabernacle of the same name: this small chapel was frescoed at the end of the 16th century by an unknown Florentine painter linked to the circle of Fra' Bartolomeo.

A fresco with the Madonna with Child among the Saints John the Baptist and Francis decorates the back wall, while in the vault are painted the Eternal Father and the Four Evangelists. On the outside there used to be an image of the Annunciation, detached for conservation reasons and now kept in the town hall.
