Villa le Corti - San Casciano Val di Pesa

Villa Le Corti

The estate is owned by the Corsini family, one of the oldest Italian aristocratic families, with a size of around 250 hectares in the heart of the Chianti Classico territory, in San casciano Val di Pesa.

In the first Florentine land registry, dated 1427, the villa is already shown as owned by the Corsini family; at the time it was a fortified tower, built in a strategic area to defend the city of Florence, along the Val di Pesa.

Between the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century the villa was completely renovated to a design by Santi di Tito and decorated with frescoes by Bernardino Poccetti, acquiring the late Renaissance style that still distinguishes it.

The building has a quadrangular shape, with two towers at the sides of the facade. The inner courtyard is surrounded by a loggia with round arches and architectural elements in pietra serena. A big lawn and the large park, with geometric flowerbeds and centuries-old cypresses, stretch out on the outside.

The big underground wine cellar, built in the 17th century, is located under the villa and its garden and is organised on three levels.

The farm produces both organic extra virgin olive oil and Chianti Classico wine and is open for visits and tastings.
