“Porta Fiorentina” represented the westward access of the ancient Castel Sant'Angelo built in 1357 by the Florentine Republic. It is one of the gates that still retains the original structure, despite the restorations that have taken place over the years, especially after the bombings suffered by Pontassieve during the Second World War. Originally it was characterized by an access with a wooden drawbridge.
