Wind mill

The Monterifrassine wind mill rises on a ridge that is the intersection of several hills. Built in the first half of the 19th century, it was rebuilt in 2000 and brought back to function thanks to the endeavour of the Municipality of Pontassieve, the support of the European Community, the collaboration of engineers and experts hailing from Holland and from Italian and German construction schools.

The complete and accurate restoration of the mill, completed in just one year, was based on the study of the still present parts and on the study of "tower" type mills. The effect you get when visiting the inside of the mill is that of a captivating “Leonardesque machine”, that you can admire by booking a visit at the Lavacchio Farm
