Located in the very historical centre, the name (Indipendence) reminds us the insurrection (1859) and then the expulsion of Grand Duke Leopoldo II, which took place just in this square and led to Tuscany annexation to the Kingdom of Sardinia.
Indipendenza antiquaria is an interesting event which takes place here regularly.
In a couple of minutes from piazza Indipendanza you can reach the massive complex of the Fortezza da Basso, one of the two fortresses of Florence.
