The biomedical collections are conserved in the Careggi Hospital and consist of two sections: the Anatomy Museum, housing bone specimens (with a very rich collection of skulls), dry preparations, preparations regarding the musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems, and the interesting section with preparations by Girolamo Segato; the Pathology Museum including a rich and well-preserved series of plaster and especially wax models documenting 19th century pathological cases considered exceptionally important at the time because of their rarity and severity. There are also numerous anatomical preparations and instruments for the study of histology, the “Autopsy Register” and volumes containing “Clinical Histories” with information on the 1469 autopsies performed between 1839 and 1881.
