The Accademia dei Perseveranti (The Academy of the Persistent) at Campi Bisenzio commissioned architect Mariano Falcini to build a theatre and the Dante theatre was inaugurated in 1873. For many years, the Dante Theatre has been a real temple of opera, appreciated by music lovers; it should be noted that Rolando Panerai started here when he was very young.
The Dante Theatre underwent the sad metamorphosis of many other spaces, turning into a cinema with low-quality programs, then it was closed for a long time, until it came back to life only after very accurate requalification and restoration works carried out by the Municipality. Therefore, able to host prose as well, a medium-sized opera theatre has been built. The orchestra pit is mobile and, if needed, it can become a place for the orchestra or an extension of the seating place.
