The Fondazione Horne celebrates the figure of Giorgio Vasari 450 years after his death with a series of events dedicated to him from June to December 2024.
The great artist from Arezzo, from 1554 to 1574 in service to Duke Cosimo I dei Medici was the author of great transformations of the city, such as the renovation of Palazzo Vecchio, the design of a Gallery to house the offices of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, or the Uffizi Gallery, and the famous Vasari Corridor.
Vasari's eclectic talent has also come down to us through Vite de' più eccellenti pittori, scultori, e architettori, or Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors and Architects, one of the first treatises on the history of art ever written.
The best way to pay homage to the artist and art historian is a series of guided tours, themed readings and workshops to retrace his life and rediscover his boundless talent at the Museo Horne and Casa Vasari, in which he frescoed the Sala Grande.
Sui passi di Giorgio Vasari (On Giorgio Vasari's Steps) are events in his places, readings from Lives, activities for children and families, and a workshop at the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno according to the programme available on the website.
