The re-enactment of the Passion of Christ, which takes place every year on Good Friday in Grassina (a hamlet of the municipality of Bagno a Ripoli) with a historical procession through the streets of the village, sees the participation of around 500 participants in period costume.
According to a popular tradition documented also by historical records, the Historical Re-enactment of the Passion of Christ in Grassina dates back to the first decades of the 17th century: it was a procession of an exclusively religious nature, a sort of tableau vivant with devotional and didactic purposes. With the passage of time, the spectacular elements were greatly developed thanks to the great evocative power of the events represented, the strong psychological motivations and the setting in scenarios of rare charm. It is one of the oldest Historical Re-enactments in Italy.
The 2025 edition is scheduled for 18 April from 8.30 pm onwards. Tickets are already on sale online on the organising CAT website.
