December, the month with the least daylight, the month in which Florence lights up with a trail of light leading to Christmas, until the Epiphany. It is called Florence Lights Up and involves the city centre, as well as some suburbs.
From 7 December to 7 January, places are illuminated in the spirit of the #EnjoyRespectFirenze campaign, which has been inviting tourists to become aware of the city and its inhabitants for the past few months like a leitmotif. Which places are illuminated? The Ponte Vecchio, one of Florence's most iconic symbols, transformed into a luminous canvas thanks to video-mapping.
n addition to the Bridge, two buildings in the centre, the famous Palazzo Vecchio and the lesser-known church of San Paolino become the protagonists of artistic projections bearing witness to the themes and values of the campaign.
Other installations can be found in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, and the Medici Garden of Palazzo Medici Riccardi, where light games chase each other among trees and statues, is not missing.
Florence Lights Up is the City of Florence's invitation to enjoy the beauty of the city with care, love and respect.
