The Teatro della Pergola, on the occasion of the celebrations for the centenary of Eleonora Duse's death, is presenting an exhibition dedicated to the artist with objects from the Duse Fund owned by the Florentine Gemmi family, which provide direct evidence of her life's work.
Among the objects on display: dresses, photographs portraying Eleonora in some of her most famous performances, letters, scripts with the actress's manuscripts, jewellery, a piano, a bed, work and travel objects, carefully preserved for more than a century that Eleonora Duse kept in a disused theatre located in Via Ghibellina in Florence and later passed on to Luigi Gemmi and his family.
Curated by Gabriele Guagni (Teatro della Pergola) and Francesca Simoncini (University of Florence), with the contribution of the Italiy's Ministry of Culture and the patronage of the National Committee for the Centenary of Eleonora Duse and the SAGAS Department of the University of Florence.
