Vie di Dante, a route that connects Florence to Ravenna in the sign of the two cities symbol of the Supreme Poet Dante Alighieri, has been awarded by Lonely Planet for the category Sustainability - Best in Travel 2021.
An important recognition for a type of tourism alternative to bites and runaways, which on the trail of Dante Alighieri's wanderings goes to the discovery of an inland territory rich in nature, history and art. 2021 is the 700th year from Dante's death.
Vie di Dante is a trail that follows the route of the Faentina railway, crossing the Mugello area; you can do it by train, by car, by bike. Those who love walking (and discovering territories in a slow way) have now two different hiking routes at their disposal: - the Cammino di Dante and the Cammino di Dante in Casentino. Trails are marked with the same signs both on the Florence-Ravenna stretch and on the Casentino side. A guidebook concerning them is planned for summer.
Follow the footsteps of Dante in Florence, Ravenna and all the territories in between with the support of a dedicated site, that supplies commercial offerings, such as guided tours, excursions and tastings of local products : www.viedidante.it Find more on the pages Lonely Planet
