Tourist coaches coming to Florence have to know the regulation of the Restricted Traffic Zone for buses (ZTL Bus) valid 24 hours a day and established in the whole territory of Florence. Transit of buses is allowed, only along predetermined itineraries, after payment of a fee and subsequent emission of a pass.
The passes Passes, called "Contrassegni" have to be purchased, and received, exclusively online: servizionline.serviziallastrada.it After subscription, you pay a rate depending on size/emissions of the vehicle, duration of the stay and other parameters. The pass has always to be displayed on the bus in a visible position.
Climb/Descent Points According to the type of pass, you can use some of the climb (salita)/descent (discesa) points for passengers: Lungarno Pecori Giraldi, Viale Ariosto/side of the city walls, piazza Vittorio Veneto (allowed stop: 10'), Piazzale Michelangelo (allowed stop: 20').The point in Via Della Dogana (San Marco area, Academy Gallery) has been replaced by a new descent-only point in piazza Savonarola. The climb/descent point for passengers direction Central Railway Station SantaMariaNovella is in Largo Vincenzo Giudice (the interior lane of Viale Strozzi), between the underpass and via Valfonda. In order to use this climb/descent point, the bus must be authorized by Servizi alla Strada.
Parkings Buses, always showing the appropriate pass, are allowed to park exclusively in certain areas: Viale XI Agosto, Viale Nervi-Viale Paoli/Stadium area (h24) via Palazzeschi, via Visconti Venosta and Piazzale Galileo.
