The Iris Garden is an enchanted place, high above the city. Established in 1954 to host an annual International Competition for the best Iris varieties, it is located in a strategic location, where one can enjoy both the beauty of nature and the view of Florence, and is only open one month a year, at this time of year.
The choice of Florence is significant because this flower - and not the lily, as is mistakenly believed - is the emblem of our city. Incredible is the variety of irises that can be admired, in infinite shades of colour. The garden's surface area of about two and a half hectares alternates between meadows, olive groves and irises.
