From 23 to 27 February in Florence two events of great international importance will take place at the same time: the Conference "Mediterranean Frontier of Peace", promoted by the Italian Episcopal Conference, and the Forum of Mayors of the Mediterranean. Numerous international delegations will meet with the aim of relaunching interest in the Mediterranean area, through dialogue between its main cities, favouring and promoting support actions for cooperation and peace.
The Pope's visit, scheduled for 27 February, has been cancelled for health reasons. For all the other details of the programme, please visit this link.
There will be many changes to the opening hours of the museums involved, directly or indirectly, in the programme. In particular, the Museum of Palazzo Vecchio will be closed to the public from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th February (partial closure on 22nd, 23rd and 24th February); the Basilica and the entire museum itinerary of Santa Croce will not be open from 22nd February to 1st March (on the 27th the square will also be off-limits: access by invitation only). As far as the Santa Maria Novella complex is concerned, while the Civic Museum will be closed from Monday 21 to Saturday 26 February, the Basilica will remain open, with a reduced ticket available from the ticket office in Piazza Santa Maria Novella. Villa Bardini will be closed to the public from 23 to 26 February.
