Arriving by plane

Florence's Amerigo Vespucci Airport (Peretola area) is only five kilometers from the city center, with which it is conveniently connected thanks to the Tramway: the T2 "Vespucci-Unità" line.
Inside the airport, arrivals side, you will find our tourist infopoint for an initial orientation.

The trip with the T2 Tramway line from the airport to Santa Maria Novella train station, and vice versa, takes only 20 minutes and has a frequency of about 5 minutes. See the detailed timetable.
To purchase tickets, if you have just arrived at the airport, you can go to the Tabaccheria; you may also buy them at the ticket machine at the terminus stop, on the left as you leave the airport.  The ticket is the standard one: it costs €1.70 and lasts 90 minutes, so you can also use it on other city bus lines during this time. Downtown the T2 stops in Piazza dell'Unità or at the steps of SMN Station (Via Alamanni side). Remember to stamp your ticket as soon as you board! See also the section by bus and tramway.

As for the Taxis, it is good to know that there is a fixed fare "airport-historic center" of € 28 net of baggage and night or holiday surcharges.
